Steam News:

First load test for HL3 launch

http://www.theverge.com/2013/12/26/5244524/left-4-dead-2-free-on-steam-for-christmas-2013

  • I suppose that makes sense. But I think their current hardware failed the test. Steam’s been slooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow all throughout the week.

Painkiller gets network compatibility with windows

http://steamcommunity.com/app/214870/discussions/0/792923684201585632/#c630800444646428050

  • Calculator + Open Sauce drivers plays the game in medium graphical settings without so much as a hiccup! Just be sure to disable Frame Smoothing and Mouse Smoothing.

  • Took them awhile, but they pulled it off! Thumbs up from me!

  • Still takes nearly 3min to launch on the render boxen.

    • I think that’s the case for everyone.

First WINE “port” shows up in Steam?

https://plus.google.com/108545475850740955119/posts/VX5ecTN1wGi

  • From the devel

    • “What’s the difference? If runs the same way? Many Titles including big Titles uses Wrappers. The game experience do not change. And keep in mind the price is only 1,99…less than a coffee.”

    • A coffee in Portugal costs €0.60. Your cardboard wine wrapper isn’t worth 3,3 coffees.

  • Whulp kids, don’t be a dummy and buy Cid the Dummy

  • <Insert “Why you shouldn’t use wine schpeil here>

  • Wow, dodged that bullet

  • That shite needs a big fat blink tag on the store page.

  • Vote /w your wallets, kids.

  • So… It begins! I wonder if Bethesda will do the same for Fallout 3, Oblivion and Skyrim.

Good luck with that

  • Yeah, I’m not holding my breath. Don’t get me wrong, it’d be awesome! But I don’t think it’ll happen anytime soon.

  • AHAHAHAHAHA

Hack SteamOS for free shit

http://www.steam-scene.com/index.php?p=/discussion/27/hacking-steamos-for-fun-and-profit-steam-gift-cards-and-free-stickers-up-for-grabs

  • Just want to bring some attention to this

  • Always cool to see what motivated nerds come up with

  • I don’t think people will risk fucking up their Steam boxen for shite prizes offered by a random site.

  • Do what Linux users usually do with their distro of choice and get coupons? Okay!

Pixel Piracy

http://www.piracysim.com/

  • Best hippy pixel graphics boat jacking simulator ever!

  • FTL at sea!   Yarrr

Proper Linux RPG?

http://store.steampowered.com/app/237550/

  • Please?

  • WHAR video?

  • I wouldn’t expect much for the price.

  • Has mostly negative feedback on metacritic

News:

0 A.D. Alpha 15 Osiris

http://play0ad.com/alpha-15-osiris/

  • Yay, multiplayer lobby!

  • Kudos to the Portuguese translators! The first non-english language to be 100% translated.

  • Imagine a world.

Urban Galaxy (beta) goes live

http://forum.urbangalaxyonline.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=81

  • Today I learned Chrome can’t do WebGL on the open sauce drivers. Firefox on the other hand, no problem!

  • Won’t play it, but it at least looks pretty nice for a browser game

The Dark Mod got the Best Mod of the Year award from PC Gamer

Makes with the working

V-

  • I want to give it 5 chairs since my save from the DRM-free version made /w the automagic and loaded on Steam.

Shiny / Sounds

V-

  • It looks fantastic minus the “monsters”

  • Background noise is acceptable as is the voice work

J-

  • For what it is, the graphics look good

  • Would be Dinging it a chair for “Fidget”.    I don’t care if its Chiaotzu from DBZA.

P-

  • I get the voice actress (Chi-Chi and Mikasa, from DBZ and Attack on Titan Abridged) is purposefully making Fidget sound annoying. But purposefully annoying is still annoying.

    • God, don’t make this gay, Pedro

      • I’m not into guys with vaginas!

Control

V-

  • It’s like this game was made for the xclone controller or something.

  • X+Y repeat

J-

  • BUTTON MASHING!

P-

  • PS2 Dual Shock worked out of the box.

  • It’s the first non WINE game that made it rumble.

Total-

FUN

V-

  • I will give it 4 /w an Asteroid.

  • If you have been waiting for a sit back button masher go for it.

  • Looking for something that requires strategy? Maybe not so much.

J-

P-

  • It’s a stupidly fun game!

  • The one gripe I have with it, which is the same I had with Castlevania in the days of yore, is the incessant amount of backtracking to be able to progress.

Final –

2014 predictions

V

Regular- Carmageddon: Reincarnation will go full-metal DN4E

Crazy Arse- Valve will kill the Steam Box experiment. Well, they will never ship one.

P

Regular- DeadFall Adventures, leading the charge in high budget games not good enough to get an aggregated score of 70 in metacritic, is pretty evident of what to look expect from the future of Linux gaming. At least X-Com Enemy Unknown is probably safe to look forward to.

Crazy Arse- DayZ, because I’m the eternal optimist.

J

Regular- Steambox will be a moderate success, a few triple A titles will find their way on to linux

Crazy Arse- We all die horribly, followed by Open Sauced Skyrim
