Opposite to most gamers, apparently, I bought my monitor partially because it has FreeSync support, since 2016/2017 I decided that my next monitor must have FreeSync support. I never could game with VSync on and I legitimately quit playing one game because the tearing drove me nuts.

I upgraded from 1080p/60 to 2560x1440/144 after I assembled a new system. Also the colors improved enough to make the upgrade worth it. Of course the next big step is a non-LCD monitor. Hopefully 5-10 years from now a 4k OLED monitor with around 30'' or 32'' will be reasonably priced ($500-600).

That would be sweet, assuming that at that time the graphics cards can handle 4k with good performance.
