AppImages are meant to be downloaded direcly from the application author's download page. Like exe for Windows and dmg for macOS.

For me personally, using a "package manager" for AppImages undoes some of their greatest aspects, like not needing the command line nor a special tool, being able to just download one file that you can copy around wherever you want, and being able to keep multiple versions.
