Retro Linux gaming

Glad I have those sweet games (Mad Max / Tomb Raider). I recently set out on a mission to see if I could get my first Linux distro to game on hardware from the same year with Loki games. And after weeks of hardware changes and software testing I have had success.

My goal was to install Mandrake 7.2 from the box copy and install Loki games from the box, no updates, no changes just what's on the disks. And I can't believe it, it's a miracle of beauty and sound. And all the computing hardware, not counting storage or disk drives, are 2001 or older.

And the box copy was from Jan 2001 and so is the system. It's pretty sweet. I posted about it on phoronix forums under graphics cards. Nvidia drivers were torture and they kept fighting with agpgart so I just gave up on them. Title of my post is Riva tnt2 m64. Anyway, it's just fantastic. And the music in Heavy Metal FAKK2 is superb.
