I work at a CVS and I cannot tell you the number of times I've seen people get scammed for those Steam gift cards. While we try our best to ensure the customer isn't getting scammed, I saw people buying hundreds of dollars in Steam gift cards.

Once or twice I saw old ladies buying these things and I hoped they were for their grand kids or a relative. Every time I would ask, "Are these a gift?" and they would say yes. That's all I could do to deter them (if they were being scammed in the first place).

There are even prompts on the PIN pad to make sure these people aren't being scammed.

But I don't know whether that works.
