What GPU and backend do you use? I have random issues on Fedora GNOME with a 1080Ti and X11 session, where sometimes gamescope does not start or starts but the window is broken. I have to kill it and retry (sometimes multiple times) to get it to work.

I also tried to start it in a Wayland session but it would just refuse to start
