Desktop *NIX sucks for noskills. I had CDE rocking in the 90's. I had a blackbox setup that's better than anything Microsoft or Apple have ever made. Gnome, now, can be prettier and more functional with minor tweaks than anything anybody else is offering. And if you were an E fanatic, Enlightenment has been better than anything Microsoft has made for years.

The only thing you can really bitch about is X vs wayland. And even there, X isn't bad. Linux is beating windows in some games with AMD hardware now. Granted, windows is a joke so using the hardware better isn't some huge feat.
