Vega

With Vega, is AMD now a valid choice for Linux gaming? As far back as I can recall, the defacto GPU choice on Linux was invariably Nvidia. Even these days opinion tends to follow this trend coupled with advice to use the proprietary driver for outright performance.

But AMD have made some significant advances and contributions to the open source driver in recent times, have they not? With indications that the Ryzen core is to be married to Vega for the upcoming APU's, is AMD on the verge of shaking up mobile Linux gaming?

Disclosure: I'm in the market for a new Laptop that can handle some older titles at full HD.
