I was witness to the Unity desktop hate of LWDW 145, and I must say that I personally still use the Unity 7.5.0 desktop, which is in the Ubuntu 18.04 repo, every day on all of my machines.

It still works perfectly bar a few settings menus for settings I've already configured using GSettings commands, and a few tray icons not showing up without an environment variable behind apps that try to show one.

I personally believe Unity is the best DE the Linux desktop has ever had, and will continue to use it until the sad day on which it stops working.
