controller stickler

Contrary to Pedro I do understand the need for specialty controllers :P

(I'm refering to the one time where you guys covered a product that was supposed to be a modern day light gun and Pedro asked the question "Come on do we really need those ?" . People love old light gun gameplay Pedro deal with it :P )

However I do share Pedro's "definition" of previous attempts of the past to recreate the light gun experience and I also like him called the previous products a "glorified wiimote"

However the young chap who created this new product in the linked presentation video, is a linux kid and had a different approach to the problem.
And his approach is in my opinion where game creators should go to port the old light gun games to new platforms and make new ones.

However here is where my nitpicking and ultiimately question comes into play.
SEGA did in the past port quite an awful lot of their light gin games on Windows.
And when you wanna use the Sinden Light gun the White borders at the edge of the screen to detect where the gun is pointing are overlayed OVER the game ... and well that's kind of a bummer really ...

Here's my question : How difficult would it be for WINE devs to "FORCEFULLY" create said border around the game window of those old windows ports, so that said border would not be layered over the gameplay ? Is it even possible ?
Because if it's possible at all that would make running those old ports in wine a better option that using comatability mode on Windows and then letting the driver for the Sinden Lightgun layer its border OVER the gameplay.
Maybe Stryder could also look into it and maybe come up with a way to get the border AROUND the gameplay ?

Lastly kudos to Andy Sinden for developping scripts turning a raspberry pi into a "mod box" that overlays the border on OLD games played on real hardware, the fact he even bothered to go that extra mile is very telling how much he is dedicated to the preservation of lightgun games.

Anyway keep on rockin' folks.
