Agree, Ubuntu really above the rest when it comes to distributions. Debian is also rock solid, but they tend to ship with legacy software. Apart from that Fedora 19 is really cool, but I don’t think running it all the time, everywhere.
I do my everyday work on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 32bit (yes, with Unity) and it just works.
On the other hand, I was amazed at how fast Archlinux could break itself for no apparent reason (and also how poor the repositories where).
