This guy is rewriting history by not mentioning Richard Stallman and the huge affect the Free (as in freedom) software movement has had on the world. He speaks as though the linux kernel was the origin of the gnu+linux system, which is wasn’t. He is either being dishonest or ignorant. Linux may be a sharthand for most people when speaking about the whole operating system, but when you are going into the details of the history of open source you can’t just pretend that it sprang out of a vacuum. If one prefers the values of open source that’s fine, but I don’t like it when people lie about history and don’t give credit where credit is due.
He also suggests that we shouldn’t have big goals, like RMS had when he started the GNU system back in 1983. A better suggestion is to learn how to break big problems into smaller manageable parts because some problems that need to be solved are big. Climate change is an example of this.
Simply put I just wished this person would have been more truthful.
