I had to fork over $180 to upgrade my 486 to 4MB to play this game…well, I had to convince my dad to give me $180 that is…
I had a 386 SX at the time /w 4MB but the doors would freeze for half a second while opening. It was maddening.
Yeah I built a 486 DX out of a board that a customer had damaged some of the traces trying to pry a soldered cmos battery from the board. I fixed the traces by replacing the damage area with wire that went from point to point. I was going to toss the board but asked our boss if I could keep it and she said yeah if you think you can do something with it? And that was how I got my doom system.
