Only thing I have installed an ran from PLOL is World Of Tanks. Everything else is in wine using the QT4 interface and winetricks.

I never got anything useful out of PlayOnLinux, mostly because I used it on stuff that didn’t run on vanilla wine (+winetricks).

The way PoL manages games (+ the way it’s written) is the reason why Lutris exists today. I still think it’s a good project, but it doesn’t fit my needs.

You got my attention…………looking at it…..Why do they have Doom3 it has a Linux client to play? I loaded my Doom 3 with the linux client and I play it all the time. Lutris looks interesting now to see if it will run some things I can not get to run in the others.

Agreed. Many launchers for Linux games. AWESOME for new Linux users, but most Linux users aren’t new.

Indeed I do, I just added the ability to use an alternate version of wine this week-end.

Don’t expect any magic here, if a game doesn’t run in wine, it won’t run under Lutris. If the game requires a special setup in order to run (winetricks stuff, patched wine version, …), then someone still has to write a script for it.

Just out of curiosity, what’s Lutris?

Assuming you’re not trolling and have missed the relevant LGC show or couple of /r/linux_gaming threads.

Lutris is a gaming platform for Linux (http://lutris.net). It automates the installation of games via community provided scripts and provides support for as much gaming platforms as possible (native + wine + bunch of emulators).
It’s under development but I’m the only commiter at the moment, I have a day job and I’m a slacker or it’s going rather slowly and it’s got plenty of bugs.
