New binary blob! New found ways to cock shit up, ‘ey AMD?
Driver Download: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/l … linux.aspx
This time around, they cocked it up so much it isn’t even compatible with kernels above 3.9. So if you’re using a distro that updates more than once every six months, you’re probably running Kernel 3.11 by now.
This time around, the fix comes from Krzysztof Kolasa over on Google+
Here’s how I did it:
1. Download the AMD binary blob, make it executable and run it (not as root);
2. Minimize the password prompt and look for the temp folder the installer created (fglrx-install.XXXXXX);
3. Navigate to …/fglrx-install.XXXXXX/common/lib/modules/fglrx/build_mod/;
4. Download the patch from Krzysztof’s github;
5. Extract his patch somewhere;
6. Copy the CONTENTS of the fglrx-13.152-master folder to the build_mod folder you found earlier (…/fglrx-install.XXXXXX/common/lib/modules/fglrx/build_mod/)
7. Resume installation and reboot.
