How much RAM do you use? I picked up a 32GB kit stupid cheap when I built the render box. Shoved in one 8GB module for testing and never got around to installing the others.

    About 40 min after boot:

Out of 8GB 1 is used as integrated GPU memory (a10-5800k) and yes, I’m playing games on that calculator:P

Granted; this is with me running Minecraft (which I told to use 4GB at most).

Is the “big car RAM, small penis” idea based on freud’s studies? :D

Seems we’re all 8GB+. Now, when was the last time you hit SWAP?

Man, I don’t even provision swap anymore. If I have an application that requires a swap file, I just dd one into /dev/shm.

I would totally do that if I had the RAM for it. Even with 4, I have only seen swap get hit maybe TWICE… and then it was only a few measly megs. Swap partitions were needed during a time when it was a necessity, but hardware has changed so much it seems almost antique. (for desktops I mean, you get into server virtualization, and that’s a whole other story.)

And my last post was too serious… so go pole vault off a donkey dick.

If I was to follow the rules regarding a SWAP partition I would need to make it 64GB XD And the main reason why I have that much is once upon a time I had to use After Effects for a video game project and that thing eats RAM. But the Windows partition has gone since then.

: I demand even less serious, maybe even less cohesive.
