The new Steam key redemption process is much better than the old one (does in 5 seconds what took 5 minutes before). The complaining users are whiny bitches who wanted to exploit the system by giving away / selling keys.

Can’t they still give them away by adding them with out installing them?

Nah, once the game is redeemed, it’s yours only whether it’s installed or not.
The only way to give a give would be to get the user you want to give the game to to sign in on Steam on your computer (or the other way around, give them access to you humble bundle account).

Of course, the correct way to give stuff to people is buying the entire bundle as a gift, it’s always been here as an option.
