ParticipantHaving missed a few episodes; this may be old news to everyone but figured I’d share this none the less.
Quote:With Google Play and Android app support hitting Chromebooks it’s now possible to run Windows applications/games on Chromebooks via CrossOver For Android.CodeWeavers confirmed today that it’s possible to run CrossOver on Chromebooks now via the Android support. CodeWeavers was even able to install Steam for Windows on the Chromebooks via the CrossOver support
Quote:The first Intel ChromeBooks have access to the Play Store now, and the Android version of Wine apparently runs on them… Pictures show the Steam client running, and a clip of a D3D game. Of course, the Play Store is only available on the ChromeOS developer channel so far, but that should change later this year.July 20, 2016 at 9:35 am #76518Orn

ParticipantTL; DR – Nothing to see here, citizen.
Steam on a Chromebook is nothing new.
1- Use Crouton to install the DE of your choice.
2- From within your Crouton chroot, install Linux Steam client
3- Play Linux versions of 2D Steam games on your Chromebook.Chromebooks generally don’t have 3D acceleration, but their 2D capabilities are okay. Wine isn’t going to help with this, although I suppose it gives you a few more hipster pixel platformers to choose from.

ParticipantOoooooooh, Intel based Chromebooks, that explains everything. For a moment I though that they had come up with some moon magic to run Wine on ARM.
Ok, nothing to see here then.

I try very hard to pretend that ARM-based Chromebooks don’t exist.
