Lost me at Ubuntu only………………………….. if you gonna do it, do it right. Do it for linux and think forwards not backwards. Meaning develop with more progressive distro’s in mind. That way you cover everyone.

Nope. Develop for your platform, extend to your users needs.
A year ago, Lutris was full of hardcoded calls to Ubuntu’s software center, now it is fully distro agnostic, but a lot of work was required for that.
