Im getting an ASUS GTX580 DirectCU II, from an associate for $170 (I think its a good price) but he tells me “he has encountered driver crashing while on Windows, and that the instability is caused by the factory overclock without additional supply of voltage, and this can be rectified by overvolting the card from the stock voltage of 1050 mV to 1063 mV”.
Now I am wondering is this only a bug with Windows driver that can be easily fixed with an overclocking utility or is it persistent in linux, if so, what are my options? editing the BIOS or is there a linux utility (I think there is a setting for overclocking clock/freq in nvidia x-server, but I don’t think there is over-volting)
Has anyone had experience with tweaking GPU in a linux environment?
