You thought I was going to say something nice, huh.
Nooope.
BUT… I do find myself dropping podcasts off my phone one-by-one with each passing week. I have come to realize that hearing about other show’s hosts discussing pizza, airplanes and HAM radio is tiresome. The shit I put up with to hear a little bit of computer chat.
Am I the only one that notices most podcasts talk ALOT about new releases/new distros? The amount of shit I give about a new Ubuntu-based release featuring the LXDE desktop is nominal to say the least.
Alot of chatter about news on many podcasts as well, if it has ANYTHING to do with Linux, they all jump all over it. At any given time I can hear the same take on Linus’s assholiness half a dozen times. I already know… he’s cool like that, best kernel developer ever. NEXT.
What I WILL say though is, I do like hearing about library conflicts, dependency issues, and differences in a game from one distribution to another. I have found getting weird and obscure games to run on my machine has scratched the same kind of itch that tinkering with new distros used to scratch when I first started with Linux.
So maybe I am sucking up a little bit, but its not intentional. Other podcasts just suck, that’s all. On the plus side, I am freeing up alot more time to sit around, talk shit and be emo online now.
The only linux podcasts I have on my phone these days is LGC, TuxRadar and Linux Outlaws.
TuxRadar: I’ve always enjoyed the Linux Format guys and they bad mouth the company they work for on their podcast
Linux Outlaws: I like Fab, he goes off the rails. Last episode he was chanting Hitler quotes.
The Fab Hitler thing has gone past the ‘tastelessly humorous’ to the uncomfortable zone. Maybe it’s the accent…
