    Delete ~/.steam/steam/appcache/appinfo.vdf and everything is cricket.

    Did that after update and steam not working still.

    Strange had to reboot again then it worked.

    I had same issue, to solve it, just deleted the whole .steam/steam/appcache directory. Thats worked 4 me.

    rm -Rf ~/.steam/steam/appcache

    I fired up Steam last night and all was kosher. Has it been fixed already?
