So I thought I’d get off my ass and do a few more Linux Let’s Plays. The game, Doom 3. Why? Because it’s sort of a rite of passage for let’s players.

Unfortunately, the Linux client for Doom 3 is so outdated it still uses xkb instead of the current standard, evdev. What this means is that, most non-alphanumeric keys don’t get recognized properly. Case and point: The arrow keys (which I use for movement) don’t work, the damn game doesn’t even recognize them.

So, I suppose my question is, do you guys and gals know of anyone who’s working on a more up-to-date client for Doom 3? (Not BFG, plzkthx)

You could try compiling iodoom3: https://github.com/iodoom/iod3

Interesting. Does the project have a mailing list? Better yet, use a controller like the hard core xboxen gamers.

You aught to be shot for suggesting a controller.

    Trackball or GTFO
