I was wondering what versions of linux do users use to game from in Linux? For that matter is it the same as what you work from to do your daily tasks? I use Kubuntu, a derivative of Ubuntu. I have been able to get more working in Kubuntu than any other distro I have tried. I have tried Gentoo, Sabayon, Bodhi, Slackware, Mint, Redhat/Fedora, and many others. I found Kubuntu easy to set-up, use and the best documentation to fix issues I have found has been Ubuntu’s forums. I am looking for other distro’s that either have improved since I have tried them or I have missed along the way.

I use Kubuntu for my Daily tasks and gaming.

Arch w/ LXDE. I have a older machine and want resources to be as light as possible. Plus openbox is comfortable for me and LXDE comes with it.

Reporting back, Arch was a bit too much configuration for my taste and available time. I think with Ubuntu’s decision to move to mir, which kde won’t support from what I’ve seen.I’m going to try openSUSE 64 bit, since it’s regarded as one of the best ‘out of the box’ KDE distributions.

This is going to turn into a Base distro / Software version pissing match soon.

I don’t think so everyone is allowed to have their opinion and it was requested with the title of the topic. I try them every now and again to see what has changed.
