ParticipantAs with windows 8; the decision that people want their computer to be similar to their smart phone is, for me anyway, a misconception. I feel that Unity and Gnome 3 are in the same mindset; that people want an iconic view of all the applications all at once. Then again, I grew up with DOS and command line Linux. I can type far faster than I can use a mouse to achieve the same thing. Maybe I’m just an old relic from the past, but I never saw any problem with how Gnome 2 did things.?

KeymasterI started using computers around Windows 3.11, so I’m the hardcore traditional desktop fan.
Yes, GNOME 2 was the bomb. No questions asked, no quarter given.
Metro/GNOME3/Unity/etc, can suck my hairy balls.
I may sound like a heathen here, but Windows 7’s Aero (imo) presented the pinnacle of desktop usability/friendliness/prettiness. Maybe that’s why I can’t stray from KDE for too long.

MemberI’m currently happy with tiling manager. Kept switching between KDE and Cinnamon for ages then went fuck it and I liked it. Before all of that Gnome2 was great. Before that I was just command line.

MemberI call bullshit. You’d be rockin’ default steambox Unity and not XFCE for the last decade if it dint matter at all to ya.
One of the those open terminals… #apt-get gitdafukoutahere Unity
#apt-get makegonow safe_compfy_xfce safe_comfy_xfce_xtrasSeptember 1, 2013 at 5:14 pm #69335Sore_Loser
