[Ensign-1] Weekly: Flashlights!

Posted by onionman

Hello and welcome back to another weekly update!

My big focus for this week was redoing the lighting in the engine, modifying it to not only allow for more lights and of animated color, but also to bring flashlights into the game. Exploring a derelict ship with no power was definitely one of the things we wanted to be able to do in Ensign-1, and now I think we’ve taken a definite step towards achieving that goal.

Rusty has done an amazing job working on a space station without power for us to explore, things like illuminated safety lighting and fans running on low power. This is not to mention the great work he did on the descent style levels.

Anyway, without further ado, here is our update video for the week!

As you can see the atmosphere and lighting is improving quite a bit. Next week I’m going to be working on redoing these ship explosions, hopefully making them look quite a bit better, while also greatly improving rendering performance. Rusty will most likely be working on finishing these missions for you guys, as we’d really like to get them out and playable.

Price Change

Now with the new content, we will be upping the price just a little bit. I just wanted to give you guys fair warning that most likely next week the price will be increasing to $5.99. So if Ensign-1 was something you were thinking about getting in on early, now’s the time!

James Lagerman, our new 3D artist has been doing some work on small fighters to add to the game, as well as working on some new interiors for the new Ensign-1. Here’s a quick look at what he’s made so far.

In my opinion he’s done a great job, and I think it’s going to be very cool exploring these new settings.

And that’s our quick look at what we’ve done this week. Now I hate to ask things like this, but If this is a project you’d like to see continued, please tell you’re friends! Right now we’re in a situation where we could really use the support.

Thanks for reading, and happy hunting!
