Steam: News

Valve sued

  • Valve isn’t the only one with a sweet most favored nation deal

  • If we’re going after them can we also please go after Amazon and their like too

  • Vicki’s goal is straight up financial in this class action suit, and she states that the class could be looking at 22-40 pounds, and “maybe” change their business practises

  • But again, Valve isn’t even the most egregious example of this.

  • VALVe is a juicy target

  • They’re using the same argument Wolfire did

  • So I guess one will pretty much dictate the other

  • I don’t know if that DLC point holds much water in court, it certainly doesn’t in practice.

  • If you bought the game on a platform wouldn’t you want to have the DLC in the same place?

    • Would be nice if platforms were compelled to make stuff like DLC and saves easily transferrable

  • And as much as I wish there was competition, everyone else seems too focused on having exclusives on their platform, forcing spyware down people’s throats, kernel level anti-cheats, de-listing and removing games from people’s accounts.

  • Can we start suing Epic, Ubisoft, EA, Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, and the rest for refusing to compete instead?

  • Same legal humans that went after Sony in 2022.

  • So now they are claiming both Valve and PlayStation are monopolies?

  • “It says Valve “forces” game publishers to sign up to so-called price parity obligations, preventing titles being sold at cheaper prices on rival platforms.“

    • That only applies to Steam keys.

Steam Client Update – June 13th

  • You can now quit games with spaces in their names

    • I was hoping that might fix the never closing issues with some Ubi titles.

  • Haw haw overlay was busted on windows

  • How about the ability to dictate what you want in the tray icon menu?

  • I used to use that feature to basically remove everything except Library, quit and the settings shortcut.

Still sucks

  • Good to know you can dual boot now.

  • Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Audio drivers work okay on the LCD, not on the OLD.

  • XDA could not be arsed to test performance, instead linking to a year old video.

  • Still, it would be nice to have something for the hella anti-cheat titles.

  • Well, at least they’re not complaining that using HoloISO as a desktop OS is a bad idea.

  • “Bespoke OS for the device it was built for in the first place is the best choice” – In other shocking news, sky reportedly still blue.

Steam: New Games

Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter

  • Salt and Sanctuary with adorable woodland critters.

  • Batracomiomachia 2: Beyond Frogs

  • Narrated by Not-Hemsworth, Not Cavill Geralt

    • Oh shit, he was also Victor Vran

    • His name was robert paulson Doug Cockle.

War of Wheels

  • Medieval rocket league burnout

  • I’m intrigued. I guess throw enough bonkers fantasy shit in a driving game and I’ll at least give it a look

  • I kinda want to play that… a lot

  • You forgot to populate the Linux repo, Brad.

  • It’s a bit basic-bitch chaos fk around arena flailing.

  • You have some popout stabby horns and a shield button.

  • And sometimes you boost.

Castlevania ReVamped

  • Postage stamp or fullscreen.

    • You can also set window scale

    • From the CLI?

      • In game, you do gotta make it to the options menu

      • Good luck with that.

  • Controls pretty well.

  • Much better than classic castlevania

  • Slide Simon slide.

Steam: Game Updates

Exile 2 on Deck

  • Oh good, just what I need.

  • Crack I can take anywhere

  • They always made sure the first Path of Exile at least worked with WINE

  • It’s great to see they are basically continuing to do so but with the hardware to back it up.

News:

Tuxedo ARM

  • Tuxedo has taken a Snapdragon X Elite laptop from everyone’s favorite German PC maker Schenker, and slapped some Linux on it.

  • The demo PC was stuck in a boot loop at Computex.

  • They are working on prototype MKII.

  • Unfortunately, this whole bunch of Snapdragon X laptop announcements have reignited the fire under Qualcomm’s ass.

  • And the flames are shaped like ARM lawyers.

  • Considering the brands releasing these, Tuxedo is possibly the best if you’re planning to part with your money.

  • Bit of a shame the demo shat the bed

  • Nice to see plain Debian get some spotlight.

  • Qualcomm has Debian ready to go’ish.

  • Waiting on some bits to get upstreamed to the kernel proper.

Epic Leak

  • A bunch of these titles are marketing codenames, so folks are having fun trying to guess what kondo and offenbach are

  • Other confirmed entries include Doom Eternal, Dragon Age 4 And Battlefield 2042

  • The hole is plugged now

  • Can’t wait for the SEGA take on, CurlyWurly.

  • A Wonder Woman game would be nice if it’s not a fk motoring live service.

  • Turok would be cool.

  • EpicGamesDB is a thing #TIL.

  • Using 3rd-party tools, the site was able to uncover a massive list of unannounced titles present in the EGS back-end.

  • Epic Games revealed that they have updated their store to prevent such leaks in the future.

The mirror (RTheren)

  • That’s hitting all the right points.

  • Easy to use creator with minimal coding, engine and IDE all in one, using Godot, upcoming marketplace.

  • Yeah… Don’t fuck it up!

  • We talked about this back in LGC 606 pick up stix and it looks like they’re continuing to ramp

  • They had their first release back in may
