Watch TWiT Live On Android Without Flash – VLC (beta)

I enjoy watching the TWiT network live on my Android tablet. Unfortunately it requires Flash or a paid app in the Play store. Turns out you can play the live stream with the latest VLC for Android beta (not available in North America). So, we need to install a nightly build.

Update: If you use a Bluetooth headset  (and have audio issues) backspace one letter after pasting the bitgravity stream and re-enter “w” or “h” then press ‘Open’

Tested on ARCHOS G9

1. Select your device from the VLC nightly builds http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/

Common devices list :
Snapdragon S1 → ARM11
Snapdragon S2/S3 → Cortex-A8/NEON
Snapdragon S4 → Cortex-A9
NB: Check Wikipedia to find if you have S1/S2/S3/S4 Snapdragon.
Tegra 2 → Cortex-A9
Hummingbird → Cortex-A8/NEON
Exynos → Cortex-A9
OMAP3 → Cortex-A8/NEON
OMAP4 → Cortex-A9

2. Save the *.APK

3. Install VLC (beta)

4. Open network stream.

5. Enter http://bglive-a.bitgravity.com/twit/live/high (1 Mbps stream) or http://bglive-a.bitgravity.com/twit/live/low (400 Kbps) in the URL field, then click Open.

6. Enjoy non-flash TWiT goodness.
