MemberJust thought I'd post my game here. Helena the 3rd is an action platformer where you drive around in a jumping tank, and occasionally explore FPS areas to find ability upgrades. The game will switch between 2D and 3D platforming to keep things interesting. It's pretty fun. Venn did a video review of an older version of this as well.

One cool thing I'd like it to do that it doesn't quite do that well yet, is support split screen co-op with 360 controllers.

MemberYea, ever since Rustybolts from Gaming On Linux came on board as a level designer, we've kind of decided to really take a stab at making something out of the game.

MemberAt the time of this writing, Helena is the 3rd most popular game on indiedb. Pretty exciting!

MemberIt's just basic OpenGL lighting, I can't really take credit for it. I only gave you the power to control it Rusty

Anyway, I was just going to say, I think I've decide to add multiplayer deathmatch to Helena, no matter how the sales are. I can just work on it as a hobby alongside of working on Ensign
I'd like to get my Twisted Metal on.

MemberHi there,
just wanted to test the demo (on Kubuntu Oneiric) and it crashes every time just after “New Game” with the error-message: “Failed to load resource image”.

MemberI think I must have put up a bogus version for the Linux 32-bit demo executable. Before when we were lucky if the game sold 3 copies in a month, I honestly couldn't even be bothered to fix it. But now that it's getting some popularity I guess I better get around to it. Thanks for letting me know.

MemberHey Neph, I've just updated the demo on indiedb to version 1.17. And I think that should take care of the crashing on 32-bit systems.
It should show up in the download list after it's been approved.

MemberHi there,
thanks for the fix, but still the same problem most of the times. One time I got some kind of crosshairs, another time I got the error message “Speicherzugriffsfehler” (which should be “segmentation fault” in english) on the console.

MemberRun the windows version through wine?
Alright alright, one day I'm going to figure out this bug. I'll see what I can do.

Btw, what distro are you using? I haven't been able to reproduce this issue on any of my machines myself, so I hope you might be okay with a little bug testing

MemberAlright this is gonna be a little like shooting in the dark since I'm on holiday and don't have my main linux PC to test this out on.

But here are two new binaries
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1538904/Helena32 for 32 bit, and..
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1538904/Helena64 for 64

Let me know if they help at all. They should at least get the program to run further.

Edit: I've heard from another tester that it still has issues
, though at least doesn't seg fault anymore. I'll need to take a look at it when I get home and can find a way to see this problem for myself.
