Proton now ships with the experimental Vulkan-based Direct3D 9 renderer D9VK. Let’s get it enabled and see what it’s capable of.
1. Enable Proton version 4.11 Steam > Settings > Steam Play
2. Right-click on a game and select Properties
3. Select “SET LAUNCH OPTIONS” and enter the following
PROTON_USE_D9VK=1 %command%
4. D9VK should be enabled for the selected game.
Enable D9VK for all titles:
1. Rename user_settings_sample.py to user_settings.py
2. Remove the # before “PROTON_USE_D9VK”: “1”,
3. D9VK will now be enabled for all games using DX9.
