Steam News :

Colour key: Venn Jordan Pedro

Shroud of the Avatar: Forsaken Virtues

  • I’ve had beta access since forever (they sent it to me BOYAITFP)
  • Game is hella unfinished and no fkn way worth 44.99
    • Why buy the game when you can pay us to test it?
  • I’ve been watching this one since the kickstarter.  It really does seem like they’re trying to resurrect the old ultima style games
  • 1,919,275 of 1,000,000 goal and it launches in pre-Alpha form.
  • New rule: If you hit your crowdfunding goal you don’t get to double dip /w Early Access.
    • They sorta did that for Distance though
      • They released a fully functional alpha (now beta) and they are not in early access, even now.
      • Trust me, I consulted the chairs on this one. It was full-metal Bill vs
        • Pai Mei MOTHAFUCKAS
      • Distance will be going for Early Access though.
        • December 9th, iirc.
          • New NEW rule: one year of early access and it’s fair game for the chairs.

Akaneiro: Demon Hunters (get some popcorn)

  • Wait, I thought this was F2P when it was in the Green Lights.
  • Because it was, Brad
  • $200,000 Kickstarter and charging microtransactions on an unfinished game that will be F2P “any day now” <- Said in Octember
  • You can could play it on Desura for free but the devls jacked up the Linux build.
  • aaaaand your progress will not transfer over to the Steam version because raisins

Ensign-1 officially launches (keys in the list)

  • Does not launch.
  • If Steam does something, is reveal all the underlying bugs.
  • Had to ln -s /lib64/ /lib64/
  • Then the game crashes right after Venn’s spiel.
  • Had to relink the same library pedro did, but I was actually able to play the damn game!
  • It’s fun to listen to Venn mess up some of his line reads

Geometry Wars™ 3: Dimensions

  • The mystery game from ass-pyre? Nope!
  • Bullet Hell…IN THREE DEE
  • Fuck those orange arrow things!

Tesla Breaks the World!

  • Who remembers getting into THAT beta.
  • Ah yes, the 374,997,120 step process
  • Them reviews take away all possible doubt about me getting this game now that it is properly out.

NVidia is still feeling that bird Linus flipped at them

  • While AMD is looking for people to unphuck their ARM graphics driver, NVidia is contributing code to the Nouveau project with some ARM code of their own.
  • 2000+ line patch to support the Tegra K1.
  • Welp, I’m the business of being fair and this justifies me buying an NVidia SHIELD to show support for these actions.

Wii Wii cubed

  • Good if you play a lot of smash on Dolphin
  • Somewhat similar to the xboxdrv utility and it supports multiple controllers
  • You might need to add some stuff to your /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/ folder to get it working properly though.     The developer is looking for bug reports

Unreal updates

  • More up-to-date benchmarking tools? Okay!
  • The aliasing on those cherries is jarring!
    • They also have no reflection in the bowl
  • “Removed support for DirectX 9, OpenGL ES 2.0, PlayStation3, WebGL, WinRT”
    • Good
    • Grumpy cat approves of your API stripping
    • Disney GGX BRDF was modified in order to create an ability to vary the fluffiness degree
  • Uningine!   Enabling developers to create hyper-realistic porno couches

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth expansion confirmed; devs seeking fan input

  • Specifically for items.
  • Voting is done using the time honoured system of Reddit

Fanmade developement of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines remake noped

  • What a twist!
  • Basically, CCP Games gave these guys a cease and decist for because they have to defend their “Vampire the Masquerade” Trademark
  • Apparently CCP had recently scrapped their latest WoD project and doesn’t want anyone else filling the gaps
  • Better now vs waiting until the first release.
  • Let’s hope this doesn’t set a precedent.
    • IIRC, US trademark law requires you to defend your trademark or risk losing it.   From a business perspective it is understandable why companies would do it.   Less of a personal problem and more of a systematic one.
      • Something which Zenimax was already keen to do once before, namely with Mojang and Scrolls.
  • I don’t like the idea of some Zenimax lawyer catching wind of this and doing the same to OpenMW.

Anoxemia Demo

  • Totally misread the title on that one
    • ^
      • ^
  • Played for almost a full minute. It’s like a bad Aquaria

Wesnoth 1.12.0

  • “This release features many improvements in all areas, including a completely revamped interface, a new multiplayer faction, dozens of new portraits, updated unit animations, hundreds of bug fixes, and a vastly improved map editor”

Space goal

  • So sort of like universe simulator (why the fuck did that not get ported), but uncharted stuff is procedurally generated
  • So 25K for Linux and 30K for MAC?
  • Tried it /w WINE and it runs but I don’t really see how you can make a game out of this.

CHAIR– Nooope

Game: This War of Mine

Devel: 11bit Studios

Engine: Custom Engine

Price: $19.99 / €18.99

Wazzat: Make life-and-death decisions driven by your conscience. Try to protect everybody from your shelter or sacrifice some of them for longer-term survival. During war, there are no good or bad decisions; there is only survival. The sooner you realize that, the better. In This War Of Mine you do not play as an elite soldier, rather a group of civilians trying to survive in a besieged city; struggling with lack of food, medicine and constant danger from snipers and hostile scavengers. The game provides an experience of war seen from an entirely new angle.

Makes with the working

  • Worked great on the Amiga
  • Also managed to squeeze around 20 FPS according to the Gallium HUD on my netbook with the open sauce drivers.
    • Considering it has a single core 1.3GHz APU, that’s pretty good.

Shiny / Sounds

  • Shiny looks good.
  • Loses a chair since i’ve lost count of how many times the filthy stink humans had text over their head organ but unreadable because background.

  • Sounds were there, but they were nothing to write home about.
    • The lack of voice acting was … negatively surprising.

  • Nothing to write home about.
  • Combat is a fk mothering joke.
  • Better kill in that first whack or more often than not you get killed to death.

  • Point and click.   Very simple

  • It’s all a matter of clicking and clicking does what clicking is supposed to.

  • Point, click, die. THE GAME!
  • Uuuuuuugh, crafting :/
  • Don’t give me this starvation shite! If I got a crowbar and some sleeping motherfuckers in the house ..I got food.

  • I can’t help seeing some similarities with Spacebase DF9, however this one actually has controls that make sense
  • I also don’t know how much fun you can have in a war victim simulation game
  • It’ll certainly test your zombie survival plan

  • It’s not supposed to be fun, so I get it!
  • Not really my cup of tea.
    • I don’t mind micromanaging a single person. Micromanaging an entire party that kills it for me.
