Makes with the working

V-

  • Loses a chair because the monitors go Zzzzzz. Got killed to death a few times because that.

J-

  • Loses a chair due to 3rd party controller xbox issues

Shiny / Sounds

V-

  • Generic as it is; live music is best soundtrack.

  • I really dig the art style and the animated cut scenes are actually worth watching for the story.

  • I almost want to ding it a chair for the ridiculous jumping animation, almost.

  • At first I thought it was a Unity joint but I walked by some headlights and noticed a shadow effect and was all “nope, Unity can’t do that”

J-

  • Music Is pretty decent rock

  • Art style…well its American chickens vs Commie penguins

P-

  • Animations are a bit janky

Control

V-

  • Alright, the controls worked from the menu so I started a game. Nooope! You need to assign the Xclone gamepad.

  • You don’t do anything fast. Really, moving a boxen requires a full stop ……………….. wait for action button……………… then use.

  • Same goes for elevators.

  • CCV help you if you’re stuck in crossfire.

  • and that motherfkr wants to roll.

J-

  • Turbo seizure controller and Hori Controller don’t work apparent, need to use real xbox controllers

  • Controls themselves are pretty janky

  • Multiplayer has an interesting dynamic involving some lost viking style gameplay

P-

  • Controls worked out of the box with the PS2 Dual Shock

  • Unfortunately there were some situations where it refused to let me use the right analog to aim and I had to use the mouse.

  • Movement is not an exact science in this game

FUN?

V-

  • Even with all the flaws this mental little side scroller kept me entertained.

  • I still loathe the rocket pack levels but wanting to learn more about the story made me sort the fkers.

  • And that’s the point. I kept coming back to this ridiculous thing during the week. Good game design is good game design.

J-

  • The sheer absurdity of the game makes it kind of fun

  • Ivan Drago bird

  • Multiplayer is fun, but fuck the dudes with the shields

P-

  • I guess Guacamelee has spoiled me when it comes to these type of games.

  • Multiplayer saves it from the score I had originally given.

  • If they had kept the original name, the score may have even been better.

Final –

  • As far as light/arcady metroid-vanias go, Guacamelee is a lot better.
